Once you’ve picked up the rest of the big clumps, you’ll need to clean the rest of the stain out.  For this you’ll need to mix in a bowl 1 cup of room temperature water with 1 cup of Isopropyl alcohol (commonly referred to as rubbing alcohol), you can pick it up at any pharmacy.  Using a plain sponge (without any soap or chemicals in it-this is important), dip it in the alcohol-water mixture and squeeze it out over the stain.  Take some paper-towels or clean and dry rags, fold them up and place them over the stain.  Step on it to have it absorb the mixture, keep some handy to replace the used paper-towels or rags.

Use the sponge again and soak up the mixture until the stain is no longer visible.  Once you can’t see it any longer, place some more paper-towel or rags once again over the spot and place something heavy over top to help draw the rest of the water from the carpet, the alcohol should evaporate on its own.

Once spring has finished and things have dried out again, consider having your carpets professionally cleaned to remove any deeply embedded stains or allergens.  If you don’t have a stain prevention chemical applied, consider having one done-to help prevent future stains and to extend the life of your carpets.
